Academy Museum of Motion Pictures and Lunch at The HMS Bounty

The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures will celebrate the art and science of movies-past, present, and future. In the Grand Lobby of the Saban Building, visitors are greeted by a soaring, glass-walled gallery and multiscreen experience offering an introduction to the new museum. Once inside the main part of the museum, you’ll be immersed in the world of motion pictures. Stories of Cinema is a multi-floor exhibit that connects audiences to celebratory, complex, diverse, and international stories of the people who make motion pictures and the artworks they create. Lunch will be provided by The HMS Bounty and includes a choice of: New York Steak, Roasted Chicken, Salmon, Pork Chops, or Fish & Chips; a beverage and a dessert.
COVID-19 Protocols are in place requiring proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken up to 72 hours prior to arrival. Visitors will also need to show a picture ID in association with their vaccination or test details.

If an excursion is sold out, be sure to call the Community Services Department at 562-989-7330 and put your name on the waitlist. When openings become available, Signal Hill residents will be called before non-residents on the waitlist. Please do not show up on the day of the excursion unless you have been instructed to do so.
Guests who are already signed up and can no longer attend should notify the Community Services Department as soon as possible to allow people on the waitlist to be called. Guests who can no longer attend are not able to choose who will replace them on the excursion. Those on the waitlist will be given priority.
Reservations: Trips must be paid by check or cash at the time of reservation. Checks should be made payable to City of Signal Hill. To pay, either come in person or mail check to the Community Services Department, 2175 Cherry Avenue, Signal Hill, CA 90755.
Waitlist: Trips that fill up will have a waitlist available. All residents will be called from the waitlist before non-residents. After residents have been contacted we will go down the waitlist in numerical order starting with number one. Do not send a check or pay for the excursion unless you are contacted by Community Services staff and told a spot is available for you.
Parking: Parking for excursions is available in the lot next to the Library, in front of the basketball courts, on the south side of Hill Street, and in the upper parking lot on Legion Drive.
Departure: For all excursions, please arrive at the Signal Hill Library, 1800 E. Hill Street, 30 minutes prior to departure time.
Motorcoach Special Requests: Our excursions’ seating is based on a priority system, residents first, any person with a handicap and then non-residents, and are based on when payment is received. We do our best to accommodate special requests, but they are not guaranteed.
Excursion Cancellation Policy: To receive a refund on any excursion you must contact the Community Services Department at least ten business days prior to the excursion. An administrative fee of $5 will be charged on ALL cancellations. If cancellation is made within ten business days, no refunds or credits are issued.
Illness on Trips: If you are feeling ill please notify the escort immediately. Please do not leave the group without notifying the escort as to where you are going. Also, a travelling kit is an essential, though what you choose to put in it may depend slightly on your own individual needs.
Here are some items that you may want to consider taking on the next trip:
Prescription medications, anti-diarrheal medicine, allergy pills, and pain relievers
Refreshments: cereal bars, crackers, fruit, water or juice drink
