A supplement of groceries is available to low-income residents of Signal Hill over the age of 55 through the City’s Brown Bag Food Distribution Program. Groceries consist of a variety of meat, chicken, fresh fruit and vegetables, and canned goods. Program applications are available at the Community Services Department, which is located at:

Upon completion, return your application to the Community Services Department with the following documentation:
The City receives funding for this program annually from a Community Development Block Grant from the Los Angeles County Community Development Commission. The amount varies annually.
Food distribution occurs every other Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Jessie Nelson Circle in front of City Hall.

Individuals who are unable to pick up their food at the designated time may make an appointment with the Community Services Department to pick up their Brown Bag between 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. Arrangements for late pick-up must be made no later than 8 a.m. Thursday morning. The designated person will be required to present the member’s membership card at the time of pick-up.
