The urban forest of the City of Signal Hill represents the City’s leadership in sustainability practices and in providing a high quality of life for its residents. In the past decade, a pressing need to adapt to the new normal of drought and fire-risk in Southern California has emerged. The Signal Hill Street Tree Master Plan represents a significant opportunity to evaluate the historic identity of the city’s urban forest and introduce best management practices that will ensure that the existing and new canopy will thrive in longevity.
The 2023 Signal Hill Street Tree Master Plan was adopted by City Council on February 28, 2023.
The final plan can be viewed here.
1) Provides a five-year Street Tree Master Plan by updating the 2010 Master Plan
2) Amends the existing Street Tree Policy
3) Updates the existing Tree Planting Standard Ordinances
