AB 1276
Assembly Bill 1276 regulates the distribution of single-use foodware and condiments to consumers
The State has recognized that littered plastic products cause environmental harm requiring significant cleanup costs. In response to this problem, State legislature passed Assembly Bill 1884 in 2018, prohibiting full-service restaurants from distributing single-use straws to consumers without first being requested.
On October 5, 2021, Governor Gavin Newsom signed into Law, AB 1276 which expands AB 1886 by prohibiting food facilities from providing single-use foodware and condiments without first being requested by a consumer.
