Traffic

Officer Responsibilities

The Traffic Bureau is staffed by a sergeant and two traffic officers/investigators, whose responsibilities include investigating all reported traffic collisions occurring within City limits, including injury, non-injury, hit and run, and counter reports. Officers are not obligated to take non-injury collision reports occurring on private property, but they can assist involved parties in exchanging driver's license and insurance information.

The Traffic Bureau is also responsible for administering grants received from the Office of Traffic Safety, commercial enforcement, DUI checkpoints, and special projects.

The Traffic Bureau meets with Public Works staff bi-monthly to review and address areas of interest, including signal phasing, street markings, sign placement, and pedestrian feedback.
