The nomination period for the offices of three (3) members of the City Council opened on Monday, July 13, 2020, at 7:30 a.m. and closes on Friday, August 7, 2020, at 4:30 p.m. The General Municipal Election for these offices will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020.
If nomination papers for an incumbent officer of the City are not filed by Friday, August 7, 2020 (the 88th day before the election), the voters shall have until the 83rd day before the election, Wednesday, August 12, 2020, to nominate candidates other than the person(s) who are the incumbents on the 88th day before the election, for that incumbent’s elective office. This extension is not applicable where there is no incumbent eligible to be elected.
If no one or only one person is nominated for an elective office, appointment to the elective office may be made as prescribed by § 10229, Elections Code of the State of California.
Vote centers will be open as required during the identified voting period pursuant to Sections 4007 and 14401 of the Elections Code. Vote centers can be found at www.lavote.net.
