Hilltop Area Restrictions and Park Closures: Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4

July 3 and 4 Closures

On Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4, the Signal Hill Police Department is restricting access to the Signal Hill Hilltop area and surrounding areas from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on each day. These closures are to support the L.A. County Health Officer Order (PDF) that prohibit gatherings and congregating in public places.  

From 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4, vehicle and pedestrian access to the Hilltop area will be restricted to residents of the area ONLY. Signs will be posted 48 hours in advance. During these hours and dates, residents of the restricted areas may only access the Hilltop area at one of two screening areas. Current proof of residency is required. 

Access checkpoints will be located at Temple Avenue and E. 20th Street (northbound traffic only) and Junipero Avenue at E. 21st Street (eastbound traffic only).

Limited Access / Road Closures

Please note that there will be limited access, road closures and barricades at the following areas on July 3 and July 4 from 5:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. each day:

  • Cherry Avenue & Skyline Drive
  • Skyline Drive & Ocean View Drive
  • Skyline Drive & Dawson Avenue
  • East Hill Street & Obispo Avenue
  • Crescent Heights Street & Gardena Avenue  
  • E. Burnett Street & Rose Avenue
  • E. Burnett Street & Gaviota Avenue
  • E. Burnett Street & Gardena Avenue

Park Closures: Friday, July 3 - Monday, July 6

From dawn on Friday, July 3, through dawn on Monday, July 6, Hilltop Park, Sunset View Park, and Discovery Well Park will be closed to all members of the public, regardless of residency. Access will be restricted to the parks and their parking lots. Signage will be posted. These closures are to prevent gatherings during the holiday weekend, in support of the L.A. County Health Officer Order.
