We raised our flag commemorating National Hispanic Heritage Month at the Signal Point Terrace with our Mayor, Vice Mayor, City Council Members, Diversity Coalition members, esteemed guests, colleagues, employees, and community members.
National Hispanic Heritage Month is observed annually from September 15 to October 15. The observation started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson and was expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988.
We celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month to recognize the achievements and contributions of Hispanic-American champions who have inspired others to succeed. Celebrating the histories, cultures, and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America is an honor.
