The City of Signal Hill has won Best Overall Performance for Agencies with Police for the Liability Program in the 2018 Risk Management Awards, presented by the California Joint Powers Insurance Authority, one of the largest municipal self-insurance pools in California, consisting of over 100 participating cities, special districts, and joint powers authorities. This is the second year in a row that Signal Hill has won a Risk Management Award. Signal Hill City Council Member Lori Y. Woods and Director of Finance Scott Williams accepted the award on behalf of the City at the Authority's Board of Directors meeting on Wednesday, July 28, 2018.
Last year, the city won the award in the category of Agencies with Public Safety for the Workers’ Compensation Program. The Risk Management Awards highlight dedicated efforts and achievements in risk management, recognizing Authority members that have demonstrated the best overall performance in the Liability Program and the Workers’ Compensation Program. To select the winners, Authority staff evaluated various factors that reflect an organization’s risk management efforts, including the cost of claims and their progress towards completing action plan items.“The Authority’s Risk Management Award is an important recognition of accomplishment for our members,” said Jonathan Shull, Chief Executive Officer of the California JPIA. “Not only does it recognize the risk management efforts of our winners, the award also serves to highlight the importance the California JPIA places on how good governance and effective management can benefit all Authority members.”
Thank you to the California JPIA for recognizing the risk management efforts of our City staff members!
