Reading Takes You Everywhere Banner

Summer Reading Program (Open to all ages)

June 16 - August 11

Signal Hill Public Library invites you to join us for our summer program, Reading Takes You Everywhere. The program is open to all - children, teens, and adults! Check out and read books, attend library events and get tickets to earn weekly prizes! Weekly drawings tickets will be given for:

  • Children: 1 ticket for every 15 minutes of reading
  • Teens: 1 ticket for every 20 minutes of reading
  • Adults: 1 ticket for every item checked out

Everyone attending a library program will receive a drawing ticket. Any ticket not drawn for the weekly prize will be eligible for the grand prize at the end of the program! Certificates will be presented to every participant who reads at least two hours during the program. 

Anime Your Way (Ages 12-17)

Wednesday, July 11 ~ 2:30 - 3:30 p.m.

Learn how to draw with former Simpsons artist Carlos Nieto. Register by visiting or calling the library at 562-989-7323.

Blue Submarine (Open to all ages)

Saturday, July 21 ~ 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.

The Blue Submarine brings the aquarium to you! Experience marine life up close and personal with live tidepool animals and specimens. Register by visiting or calling the library at 562-989-7323. 

Richie's Plank - VR Experience (Ages 10+)

Wednesday, July 25 ~ 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.

We'll be connecting to Richie's Plank Experience. It's a short virtual reality experience which will cause big reactions - exhilaration, fear and laughter. Register by visiting or calling the library at 562-989-7323.

Great Stuffed Animal Sleepover (Ages 3 - 12)

Friday, July 27 ~ 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Bring your favorite stuffed animal to share a storytime, crafts, and snacks. Your animal will then spend the night at the library and be picked up the next morning with a special surprise. Register by visiting or calling the library at 562-989-7323. 

Dino Encounter Fest (Open to all ages)

Saturday, August 11 ~ 1:00 - 5:00 p.m.

Join us for pizza, kids activities, and an interactive show with dinosaurs of the late Cretaceous period with Rocky the TRex, Scout and Rebel. Register at the Library or call 562-989-7323.
